Emmett S. "Pee Wee" Ross, 67, of 300 E. Warren, Mount Pleasant, died at 2:18 a.m. Sunday, April 8, 1990, at the Henry County Health Center.
Born Dec. 8, 1922, in Crawfordsville, he was the son of Arch and Effie Smith Ross. He married Betty E. Graff May 15, 1947, at Iowa City.
He worked at the Leopold Desk Company before serving in the U.S. Army Infantry during World War II. He then worked at the International Farmall Plant at Davenport, was a fireman at the Mount Pleasant Light Plant for five years before working as a clerk at the U.S. Post Office in Mount Pleasant for 23 years. He attended the Faith Christian Outreach Center in Mount Pleasant.
Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Marla (Lester) Schlatter, Wayland, Mrs. Rita (James) Murray, Richmond, Ind., and Mrs. Cathy (Robert) Farley, Mount Pleasant; two brothers, Ted Ross, Bonaparte, and Hoyt Ross, Winfield; three sisters, Mrs. Lucille (Mike) Farr and Mrs. Hope (Frank) Hoyt, both of Salem, and Mrs. Virginia (J.C.) Boyd, Burlington; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Weir Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant.
The service for Mr. Ross be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Faith Christian Outreach Center, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Monte Knudson officiating. Burial will be in the Green Mound Cemetery, west of Trenton.
A memorial has been established for the Gideon Bible Society.
