Ora "Lee" Byers

Ora "Lee" Byers, 88, of Mount Pleasant died Sept. 1, 1989 at Henry County Health Center of Mount Pleasant.

He was born Nov. 12, 1900, in Birmingham to Hiram and Mary Skinner Byers. He was employed at Loudens as an office worker for 45 years. He married Jessie Swailes on Nov. 18, 1938, in Mount Pleasant.

He is survived by his wife; a foster daughter, Doris Schrum of Fairfield; five foster grandchildren; a foster great-grandchild; and a sister, Meriam Courtney of Minburn.

The body has been cremated.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 18, 1989 at Grant Cemetery near Rome, Iowa, the Rev. Bonifacio Mequi Jr. officiating.

Behner Funeral Home of Fairfield is in charge of arrangements.
