Eva Barber

Eva M. Barber, 92, of Fairfield died Sunday, July 16, 1989, at Jefferson County Hospital, Fairfield.

She was born May 12, 1897, in Jefferson County to Perrin and Grace Davis Reed. She married Robert L. Barber Sr. on Sept. 19, 1914, in Fairfield. He died June 26, 1952. A Fairfield resident most of her life, she was a homemaker and had worked at Fairfield Button Factory, Fairfield Glove Company and Iowa Army Ammunition Plant at Middletown. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Fairfield.

She is survived by a son, Leo of Davenport; three daughters, Shirley Bradley of Libertyville, Beverly Winters of Colona, Ill., and Ila Thomas of Clearwater, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; a sister, Irene Reighard of Keosauqua; and two brothers, John Reed of Libertyville and Charles Reed of Arlington, Va.

She was preceded in death by two sons and two daughters.

The service was held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Jully 19 at Behner Funeral Home, the Rev. John D. Boatman officiating.

Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Fairfield.
