Mary Thornberry dies at 76

Mary M. Thornberry, 76, Route 4, Box 13, died at 9 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, 1989, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

The body will be cremated. Mrs. Thornberry's wishes were that no service be held at this time. Friends may stop to register at Behner Funeral Home until Tuesday evening. A memorial has been established to the American Lung Association.

Mrs. Thornberry was born Sept. 27, 1912, in Stockport, the daughter of Amos and Bertha Douglas Upfold. She married Harry Thornberry Jan. 30, 1937, in the Lutheran parsonage. She was a clerk at the Fairfield News Agency and the Leber Variety Store. She was a member of the Fairfield Women's Bowling Association for 32 years, serving as secretary for 13 years.

Surviving are he husband and a sister, June Evans of Renton, Wash. Her parents preceded her in death.
