Clifford Jerrel rite Tuesday

The service for M. Clifford Jerrel, 89, 803 S. Third St., who died at 9:35 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 1989, at Nelson Nursing Home, where he had lived since Jan. 14, 1988, will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to purchase a gift for Nelson Nursing Home.

Jerrel was born June 11, 1899, in Round Prairie Township, Jefferson County, the son of Samuel and Amiela Liblin Jerrel. A lifelong resident of Jefferson County, he attended Foursquare Church, was a farmer and cement worker associated with Ray Kurka and Lester Miller, and had worked as a truck driver for the Caviness Coal Yard. He married Cora Freeman Jan. 29, 1920, in Fairfield. They had just celebrated their 69th anniversary.

Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Carol Leathers, Darlene Grieger, both of Mesa, Ariz., Betty Hinkle of Birmingham; two foster sons, Donald Keller and Duane Keller, both of Arizona; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren preceded him in death.
