Clyde Carson McElhinney

Clyde Carson McElhinney, age 87, Morning Sun, died Tuesday, February 28, 1989 at the Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua. The son of Samuel Finley and Mary Isabelle (Chambers) McElhinney, he was born December 3, 1901 at Morning Sun. On June 15, 1922 he married Letha Campbell at Keokuk, Iowa, who died March 22, 1981. He farmed, and was a member of the Louisa County Farm Bureau. He was a graduate of the Morning Sun High School, class of 1922. He was a member of the Sharon Reformed Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include: three daughters, Virginia Johnson, Morning Sun; Zelda Garretson, Fort Madison; Sharon Galloway, Keokuk; one son, Lloyd, Rancho Santa Fe, California; 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; four sisters, Isabelle (Mrs. E.P.) Lotz, Keosauqua; Geneva (Mrs. Ross) Barnett, Des Moines; Frances (Mrs. Ralph) Hart, Kansas City, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother, Elburn and one daughter in infancy, and one grandson.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 4, 1989 at 11:00 a.m. from the Sharon Reformed Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bob Schmidtberger officiating. Interment was in the Elmwood Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were by the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home, Morning Sun, Iowa.
