Wilbur McGinnis rite Tuesday

The services for Wilbur Earl McGinnis, 80, of Fairfield, who died at 5:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 1989, at Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Gordon McMillan officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Masonic rites will be at 7 tonight at the funeral home with family visitation following at 8. Friends may call as they desire. A memorial has been established to Fairfield Public Library.

McGinnis was born Oct. 13, 1906, in Adel, the son of John and Myrtle Peterson McGinnis Sr. He married Martha Seller Oct. 10, 1945, in Peoria, Ill. She died June 1, 1984. He farmed in the Stockport area for 23 years before retiring and had served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a member of Clinton Masonic Lodge 15 AF and AM.

Surviving are a son, William E. of Danville; two granddaughters; a brother, John of Bloomington, Ill.; three sisters, Helen Kemp of Kenney, Ill., Alice Ruck of Mesa, Ariz., and Marie Markinsen of Sioux Falls, S.D. A sister, Mabel, and a brother, Gaylord preceded him in death.
