Evelyn M. Waters

Evelyn Marie Waters, 65, formerly of 611 S. Fifth, Fairfield, died at 11:33 a.m. Jan. 3, 1989, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

She was born Dec. 28, 1923, in Van Buren County to Robert and Edna Rabe Simmons. She was raised and educated in the Van Buren County schools. She attended Parsons College and taught in rural school. She had lived in Bloomfield before moving to Fairfield in 1982. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church in Fairfield. She married Mark C. Waters Dec. 11, 1955, in Kirksville, Mo.; he died Dec. 16, 1982.

She is survived by a stepdaughter, Jean Francisco of Palos Verdes, Calif.; four stepsons, Donald Waters of Birmingham, Robert Waters of Woodriver, Neb., Lee Waters of Anaheim, Calif., and Lewis Waters of Gardena, Calif.; a brother, Carl Simmons of Chicago, Ill., and two sisters, Ruth Skeens of Farmington, and Frances Rinabarger of Keosauqua.

Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 5 at Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant, the Rev. Clair O'Dell officiating.

Behner Funeral Home, Fairfield, was in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established to Cedar Creek ResCare.
