James DeVore

James Lynn DeVore, 95, of Fairfield, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 1989, in Fairfield.

He was born May 12, 1894, in Roseville, Ill. He married Bertha Lee VanHorn Sept. 2, 1914, in Wapello. She died Oct. 20, 1981.

He was employed as a painter and carpenter before retiring. He moved from New London to Fairfield 25 years ago. He was a member of the Church of God Holiness, Stockport.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ruby Walker, Rock Island, Ill., Mrs. Lucille McDaniel, Toddville, and Mrs. Frances Pitzer, Fairfield; one son, Dean DeVore, Coaldale, Colo.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Elliott Chapel, New London.

The service for Mr. DeVore will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Elliott Chapel, New London, with the Revs. John I Page and Ronald Clodnak officiating. Burial will be in Fulton Cemetery, Cairo.

Memorials have been established for the Nauvoo Indians and the Kansas City College and Bible School.
