Mary Ann Gerdes

Mary Ann Gerdes, 61, rural Farmington, died at 6:25 p.m. Monday, June 19, 1989 at Fort Madison Community Hospital. She had been in failing health for some time.

Mrs. Gerdes was born May 1, 1928. She was an employee of Shaeffer Eaton in For Madison. She was of the Catholic faith and was a member of the Farmington American Legion Auxiliary and Local 1551 of the UAW. She moved to Farmington in 1977.

On February 10, 1948 at Macomb, Illinois, she was married to John Gerdes, who survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Tom and Greg, both of Fort Madison, and David of Urbandale; a sister, Mrs. Dewayne Cremeens, Rock Island, Illinois; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Basil and Mary Pruski Templeman, a sister and two infant sons.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 1989 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Farmington. The Reverend Paul Connolly will officiate. The committal service will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in For Madison at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made at the Hofbauer Funeral Home.
