Ruth Coffin

Ruth I. Coffin of Davenport, formerly of the Fairfield area, died June 8, 1989, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Davenport. She was 79.

A graveside service was held Monday, June 12 in Evergreen Cemetery.

She was born July 10, 1909, in Van Buren County, the daughter of Jasper and Birtie Franz Coffin. She has been a teacher all of her working life, teaching in Iowa and Oregon before retiring in 1970. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include two sisters, Katherine Johnson of Moline, Ill., and Lucile Koch of Winfield; two brothers, Howard of Donnellson and Raymond of Keosauqua; and several nieces and nephews.

Weerts Funeral Home in Davenport was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Davenport.
