Mildred Bridgeford

Mildred B. Bridgeford, 91, of Stockport died August 20, 1989, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

She was born May 21, 1898, in Golden, Ill., to Charles and Olive McMillen Vertrees. A resident of Stockport since 1941, she was a graduate of Aledo High School in Aledo, Ill., and a graduate of Iowa Wesleyan College. She was a teacher and homemaker. She was a member of Stockport United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, American Legion Auxiliary in Stockport, LLG Study Group and a 50-year member of Order of Eastern Star. She married Vernon B. Bridgford July 28, 1923 in Aledo, Ill.; he died May 6, 1953.

She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Leonard of Ankeny; three grandsons; and a great grandson.

The service was held Tuesday, August 22, 1989 at Stockport United Methodist Church, the Rev. Sara Malone officiating. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Aledo Cemetery in Aledo, Ill.

Memorials have been established to Stockport United Methodist Church, Stockport First Responders or Stockport Library.
