MRS. MONSON DIED AT IOWA CITY
Mrs. Albert Munsen [sic], 60, died last Thursday evening at the state hospital in Iowa City where she had been taken two weeks before for an operation. The report of her death came as a great shock to her friends, who for the most part had thot she was not seriously ill.
Funeral services were held Monday, with Rev. Paulsrud officiating at the home here and at the Bethel church, of which she had been a most faithful attendant for a number of years.
Mrs. Margaret Monson, whose parents were Henry and Torbjor Heng, was born at Oda, Hardanger, Norway, August 18, 1876, and died at Iowa City on May 6, 1937, being 60 years old. She came from Norway in 1894, and to begin with made her home at Roland.
On Dec. 31, 1898, she was united in marriage to Albert Monson. To this union were born a daughter, Theressa. The Monson family has lived in and near Story City all the time with the exception of 18 years at Roland.
On April 14, Mrs. Monson went to Iowa City for an operation which seemed to be a success, but two weeks later, complications set in which resulted in her death.
Mrs. Monson was a member of Bethel church, where she faithfully attended all the services. She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband and the only daughter.
Funeral services were held May 10th, form Bethel church, Story City, where Rev. G. O. Paulsrud officiated. Interment was made at the Story City cemetery.
The pallbearers were: R. W. Evenson, Joe Haire, K. F. Johnson, H. Knudson, Ole Knudson and Ole Townswick.
