Funeral services for John F. Thess, 78, were held at Edwards Congregational church, Davenport, April 25, 1989 with burial in Davenport Memorial park. Mr. Thess died at Mercy hospital, Davenport, April 21.

He married Elsie Bossen in 1941. She died in 1984. He was a retired worker at the Rock Island Arsenal. He was a member of Edwards Congregational church, Moose Lodge 28, Davenport, Plus 60 club and the American Association of Retired Persons.

He is survived by a son, Keith, Davenport; a sister, Ruby Thress, Durant and a brother, Arthur, Durant.
