OBITUARY - REV. JOSEPH ALVIN COMER

Rev. Joseph Alvin COMER, age 80, a resident of the Ozarks Methodist Manor in Marionville, MO, died June 1, 2004, at the Aurora Community Hopsital in Aurora, MO.

Born December 12, 1923, in Redding, IA, Joe COMER was the son of the late Joseph Agee COMER and Edith Hannah (WRIGHT) COMER. He was married to Helen Francis ALCORN on June 17, 1951, at the Indiana Avenue Methodist Church in Kansas City, MO.

Joe COMER was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, on October 8, 2002.

Survivors include his sister, June COMER HARTLEY of Lee's Summit, MO; four nieces, Phyllis CHRISMAN of Sunnyvale, CA, Nancy ROOKS and husband Ron, of Kansas City, Gayle ALLEY and husband, Phil, of Pleasant Hill, and Iva ALCORN BANNING and husband, Ray, of Armstrong, MO; four nephews, Russell HARTLEY and wife, Sonja, of Olathe, KS, Norman ALCORN and wife, Linda, of Seldalia, MO, Gayle ALCORN and wife, Linda, of Windsor,and Alan ALCORN of Kansas City, KS; and many great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, June 20, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Marionville, Mo. Graveside services and burial of ashes of both Joe and his wife, Helen, will be 7 p.m. at the Laurel Oak Cemetery in Windsor, Mo.

"Uncle Joe" will be lovingly remembered for his strong opinions, endless jokes, abiding faith in God and love for his family. We will greatly miss you.

NOTE: Rev. COMER was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the Philippines.
