OBITUARY - LAURA BUETTNER

TOPPPENISH, WA -- Laura BUETTNER, 85 of Toppenish [Washington] passed Tuesday, March 6, 1990 in the Providence Central Memorial Hospital.

Laura was born to James L. and Annie KENNEDY on February 18, 1904 in [Ellston] Ringgold County, Iowa. Laura moved by covered wagon with her parents to Dixon, S.D. in 1908. They homesteaded for several years. Laura married Elvin BUETTNER on October 24, 1934 in Gering, Neb.

They moved to Toppenish [Washington] in 1937. They owned and operated Laura's Cafe in Toppenish. Laura's Cafe was one of the several building blown up in an explosion in November of 1940.

Laura is survived by five sisters, Sylvia HEMING and Mary Ann OLSON, both of Toppenish; Ada GAVIS of Willow Springs, Mo., Fern HARN of Spearfish, S.D., and Clarice MONTGOMERY of Goldendale. Laura is also survived by many nieces and nephes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elvin [in 1964], her mother and father; four brothers and two sisters.

Memorial services will be held at Valley Hills Morturary in Zillah on Saturday, March 10 at 10 a.m. Interment will be at the Elmwood Cemetery in Toppenish.
