OBITUARY - M. J. CREWS

Matthew J[ohn]. CREWS was born in West Virginia, November 25, 1821. He moved while a child to North Carolina. He was married to Mary B. BANNER, November 19, 1848. In 1865, they moved to Illinois and in 1871 to Randolph County, Missouri, where they resided until they came to Ringgold County, Iowa, in 1878. In June, 1878, he lost his beloved wife. He moved to Maloy in 1889, where he died, Wednesday, June 9, 1897.

The funeral was preached Friday, June 11, at ten o'clock a.m. in the Maloy Baptist church by Rev. FAUCETT of Conway.

NOTE: Mary B. (BANNER) CREWS was born in Germantown, North Carolina on April 3, 1824, and died at the age of 54 years on October 8, 1878 at Maloy, Iowa. Mary and Mathew were interred at Platte River Cemetery near Maloy.
