MARIE ADKISSON, DIAGONAL, DIES

DIAGONAL. -- Mrs. Alfred (Marie) ADKISSON, 66, of Diagonal, died Saturday morning [December 28, 1968] at the Sunnyslope nursing home north of Mount Ayr. She had been ill since Thanksgiving time.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Diagonal United Methodist church. Rev. George McMULLEN will officiate. Burial will be in the Clearfield cemetery. The Varner funeral home of Diagonal will be in charge of the services.

Mrs. ADKISSON is survived by her husband, three sons, Cecil of Mount Ayr, Ernest of Grand River, and LaVerne of Diagonal, eight daughters, Lillian DAY of Kansas City, Mo., Doris THOMLINSON of Chillicothe, Ill., Donna FARRENS and Janis WILSON of Des Moines, Darlene ROGERS of Lenox, Alvena CLARK of Ellston, Mary CAMPBELL of Dexter and Kathryn STONE of Diagonal, 44 grand children and two great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Bernice MADDEN of Lenox, Mrs. Frances CLARK of Creston and Mrs. Lurene SLATER of Gibbon, Nebr., a brother, Clarence JOHNSON of Kent, and a half-sister, Mrs. Jennie BRAND of Creston.

NOTE: Marie was born June 21, 1902, Ringgold County, Iowa, the daughter of Nelson and and Minnie Edena (LARSON) JOHNSON.
