OBITUARY - JOHN RUCKMAN
October 29, 1931 - November 7, 2010

John RUCKMAN passed away Sunday, November 7, 2010, at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia. John was a former resident of Mount Ayr, Iowa.

John was born in Diagonal, Iowa on October 26, 1931 to the late Homer E. and Diamond RUCKMAN. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force (1951-1955) where he was a tech. sergeant. He spent 33 years as a truck driver, retiring from ABF Freight Systems in 1994. He enjoyed woodworking and was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the NRA.

John is survived by his wife, Patty RUCKMAN of Rincon, Georgia; son, Gary (Susan) RUCKMAN of Savannah, Missouri; son David (Tammie) RUCKMAN of Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren, Amanda RUCKMAN of Saint Joseph, Missouri, Sarah (Bryan) KRETZINGER of Saint Joseph, Missouri, Daniel (Lisa) RUCKMAN of Peoria, Illinois, Joshua RUCKMAN of Savannah, Missouri, Rebekah RUCKMAN of Overland Park, Kansas, Kayela FOREMAN of College of the Ozarks, Missouri and Gunther RUCKMAN of Smithton, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Caleb KRETZINGER of Saint Joseph, Missouri, Noelle and Elijah RUCKMAN of Peoria, Illinois and Kaeleigh RUCKMAN of Savannah, Missouri; sisters, Hazel JACKSON of Grant City, Missouri, Helen SHAY of Des Moines, Iowa and Mary Ellen SHIMERDLA of Omaha, Nebraska; brothers, Rex RUCKMAN of Stockton, California and Paul RUCKMAN of Texas; mother-in-law, Mozelle BERNE of Springfield, Georgia, and several nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen RUCKMAN, and sister, Doris ENGLAND.

A memorial service will be held at Green Valley Baptist Church, 3110 Cook Road, Saint Joseph, MO 64506 at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 27, 2010, for friends and family. There is an online register book at www.stricklandandsonsfuneralhome.com.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be given to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284.
