OBITUARY FLOYD A. FERRY
December 21, 1921 - November 8, 2010

Floyd A. FERRY, 88, passed away peacefully at the Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Arkansas on November 8, 2010. Floyd was born December 21, 1921 at Piedmont, Kansas to Arthur and Mary FERRY.

He married Eleanor FRANKLIN in 1946 and to this union were born daughter Janice and sons Todd and Kent. After Eleanor's death in the early 70s [1974], he married Marian L. JOHNSON. Floyd and Marian celebrated 35 years of marriage this year.

Floyd was a World War II veteran serving with distinction in the U.S. Navy in Underwater Demolition in the Pacific Theatre and was awarded two Bronze Stars for valor. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 100. He retired from the American Natural Resources Pipeline Company in 1983 after 32 1/2 years of service in Kansas, Tennessee, Iowa and Missouri. Floyd and Marian retired to Rogers, Arkansas in 1983. Floyd was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Willing Workers Sunday school class and the Methodist Men in Rogers. He was instrumental in the development, growth and success of the Rogers Recycling Center as a volunteer co-coordinator for several years, being recognized publicly for over 10,000+ hours of volunteer work and serving on the Rogers Youth Center board.

Floyd was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor; his parents, and a sister, Laura Van ROYEN.

Survivors include his wife, Marian; daughter, Janice (John) BREWER of Rapid City, South Dakota; sons, Todd (Ruth) FERRY of Issaquah, Washington and Kent FERRY of Farnborough, England; step-children, Jeff (Stephanie) JOHNSON of Reston, Virginia, Sarah (Dan) O’REILLY of Reno, Nevada, Greg (Kathleen) JOHNSON of West Des Moines, Iowa and Brad JOHNSON of Lone Jack, Missouri; 13 step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Louise HARPER and Virginia (Marable) BRYAN of Moline, Kansas, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held Saturday, November 13, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church, 307 W. Elm Street in Rogers, Arkansas, and officiated by Rev. Sandra WANASEK. Burial will be in Maple Row Cemetery at Kellerton, Iowa at a later date.
