OBITUARY - MARGIE A. FLANERY WALTER
June 14, 1937 - October 29, 2010

Margie A. FLANERY WALTER, 73, died October 29, 2010, at the Life Care Center of Osawatomie, Kansas.

She was born June 14, 1937, on a farm north of Bucyrus, to A. T. and Gertrude PORTWOOD FLANERY. She has lived within the surrounding area all of her life. She attended one-room schools and graduated from Stilwell in 1954.

She worked for Bendix Corporation, Seaboard Allied and retired from Laidlaw, driving a school bus for the Blue Valley school district for 13 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stilwell. She then transferred membership to Calvary Baptist in La Cygne.

Margie will be remembered for playing the piano and organ.

She met Robert WALTER from Mount Ayr, Iowa at Fort Riley, Kansas. They were married October 27, 1957. They enjoyed 53 years together.

She was preceded in death by a son, Gregory, two sisters and one brother.

She is survived by her husband, Robert WALTER of Osawatomie, Kansas; three daughters, Pam WARD of Grandview, Missouri, Vicky WALTER of Merriam and Linda WALTER of Saint Joseph, Missouri; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and four sisters-in-law, Peggy WALTER of Indianola, Iowa and Beulah WALTER, Barbara WALTER and Edna JONES, all of Mount Ayr, Iowa.

Services were Monday at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel in La Cygne followed by burial in the Pleasant Valley cemetery.

The family suggests contributions to the La Cygne Library District No. 2.
