OBITUARY - Dr. CLETUS E. TINDLE
March 23, 1919 - November 13, 2010

Dr. Cletus E. TINDLE passed away November 13th, 2010 in Osceola, Iowa at the age of 91.

Dr. TINDLE was born to Ralph and Lola TINDLE in Clearfield, Iowa on March 23, 1919. He graduated from Diagonal High School in 1938 where he was a member of that school's State Basketball Championship team. After farming with his family, Cletus enlisted in the United States Army during World War II.

At the age of 17 he met his high school sweetheart, Margaret RUBY and they were married January 11, 1943. After discharge from the service, he worked briefly for the Soil Conservation Department in Scottsburg, Indiana before attending Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa.

He began his practice in Fairfield, Iowa in 1949, moving to Osceola in November 1950. His career as a Doctor of Chiropractic spanned 58 years, retiring only because of ill health in September 2007. He had the privilege to service five generations of patients in Osceola. He was known and respected as a quiet and thoughtful doctor and friend.

He and Margaret were parents to one daughter, Cindy. His pride and joy were his two grandsons, Jordan and Colin SMITH. He spent countless hours attending their sports and musical activities. He was proud of their academic and personal successes.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Jim SMITH of West Des Moines, his grandsons Colin and Jordan SMITH and a nephew Dr. Marlyn TINDLE of Winterset.

Interment Services will be Tuesday, November 16 at 2:00 PM at the Resthaven Mausoleum in West Des Moines. Visitation will be open after 9:00 AM Monday at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola and will resume at 1:30 PM Tuesday at Resthaven in West Des Moines and continue until service time.

The family wishes to thank Martha SNYDER who has gone the extra mile in providing care for both Margaret and Doc. A special thanks goes to Kris VOGEL, Karen JACKSON, Holly JACKSON, Tammy JACKSON and Norma MOFFITT who provided wonderful care to both Margaret and Doc which allowed them to remain home. The family would also like to thank the wonderful and faithful friends who continued to visit both Doc and Margaret.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Central Iowa in Osceola.

Services held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 16 at Resthaven Mausoleum in West Des Moines with interment at Resthaven Mausoleum in West Des Moines, Iowa.
