OBITUARY - MRS. L. B. SHIELDS

Emma J. HEMBRY, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William HEMBRY, was born in Dubuque county, Iowa, February 7, 1869, and died at the Greater Community hospital in Creston Saturday evening, April 12, at the age of 70 years, two months and five days.

For several years she had been in failing health and while eating dinner Wednesday a small chicken bone lodged in her throat, doctors were summoned but were unable to relieve the condition. She was taken Saturdayto the hospital at Creston, where she died about nine o'clock.

She was united in marriage to L. B.SHIELDS March 1882, and to this union six sons were born. They were Fred, Vern, Ray, Charles, Homer and Claud, all living near Mount Ayr. Besides the husband and children she is survived by fifteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held at the Caledonia church Tuesday afternoon, at 2:30, conducted by T. S. RHOADES. Interment was made in the Rose Hill cemetery [Mount Ayr, Iowa].
