OBITUARY - JAMES LINDON HICKERSON

James Lindon HICKERSON, youngest son of John and Vergie [(SNEDAKER)] HICKERSON, was born April 3, 1923, in Poe township. He attended Mount Ayr schools until his mother and brothers moved to Iowa City, where he attended high school, but returned to the Mount Ayr school in 1941. He went to California, where he was employed by the U.S. Maritime Commission. Then came the Pearl Harbor attack, and he took his part in the vital job of running supplies to the south Pacific. He returned from the fighting front in New Guinea and entered the hospital for tooth infection. Complications set in and he died November 12 [1944].

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Carl JACKSON; one sister, Mrs. Amos LEE of Des Moines; six brothers, J. Mel of New York, Raymond of Tulsa, Wayne of Roseberg, Ore., Ainslee of Philadelphia, Luther in the medical department at Tucson, Ariz., and Loren, Lieutenant in the navy; his fiancee, Miss Mildred SINTZ; two nephews, eight nieces and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held November 16, conducted by the Rev. Clarence R. DOWELL.

Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery [Mount Ayr, Iowa].
