1946OBITUARY - WILLIAM FOSTER WOODS.
William Foster WOODS, son of Foster H. and Martha (SANDS) WOODS was born in Marshall County, West Virginia near Wheeling, August 14, 1864 and departed this life October 3, 1946 at the age of 82 years, one month and 19 days. He was one of a family of seven brothers and sisters all of whom except two sisters preceded him in death. At the age of twelve years he moved with his parent to Ringgold County, Iowa, where he spent the remainder of his life, except for five years in Camden, Missouri and in later life, two years in Texas.
On November 8, 1891 he was united in marriage to Barbara Anna BLAKESLEY. To this union nine children were born, one of whom died in infancy. His wife preceded him in death December, 1940.
He leaves to mourn his passing five sons, Harry F. WOODS of Lorimor, Iowa, James WOODS and Dennis WOODS both of Diagonal, Iowa, Donald WOODS of Osceola, Iowa, and Glen WOODS of Bedford, Iowa; three daughter, Dorcie HILL of Benton, Iowa, Ollie GRAHAM of Des Moines, Iowa and Eunice ROBINSON of Ellston, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Alice LUCAS of Shannon City, Iowa, and Mrs. Rachel HURLEY of Montreal, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Gerty WOODS of Des Moines, Iowa; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild; nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
He was a loving husband and father and a kind and ever helpful friend. All that loving hands could do was done to alleviate his suffering, but to no avail, and he slipped peacefully away after having expressed his willingness to go.
