OBITUARY - HARRY SKARDA

Harry SKARDA, 86, of Tingley died August 10, 2008, in Ringgold County Hospital.

Services are pending at Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr.

Harry Howard SKARDA, 2nd son of Joe & Josie (PROCHASKA) SKARDA, was born December 25, 1921 on a farm south of Shannon City in Ringgold County, Iowa and passed away in the Ringgold County Hospital on August 10, 2008.

Harry graduated from the Tingley High School in 1939 and attended Maryville College for a short time. He lived most of his married life on a farm east of Tingley, IA except for 8 years on a farm south of Creston and 3 years in the Naval Air Corps.

Harry married Jean BRECKENRIDGE on February 12, 1948. They were fortunate to have celebrated their 50th anniversary together. Jean passed away on November 30, 1999. Harry was an outdoorsman, loving his farm life; hunting, fishing, dancing and his music. He was a talented baseball pitcher, pitching for the Mount Ayr team. He enjoyed his many visits from the Hospice personnel and his morning coffee friends.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Jean; one brother Richard SKARDA; two brothers-in-law Gayland STEPHENS & Leo LINKEY; a nephew Gary SKARDA, and a niece Becky DOLECHECK.

Surviving is one brother Elbert SKARDA & wife Peggy of Tingley; two sisters Anna LINKEY of Diagonal and Mayme COHRON & husband Don of Atlantic, IA; many nieces, nephews; his dancing partner Cleone HOSFIELD; and his constant and faithful companion, his dog, Mike.
