A SAD FATE.
JOHN, son of Thomas SHERRILL who lives about ten miles west of town, was thrown from a horse and killed on the evening of the 29th inst. He was riding a horse down the hill some distance from the house, to water it; having a spur on his foot, it struck the horse, which so frightened him that he threw the boy with such force as to injure him in such a manner as to cause his death. Dr. WILLEY was called but when he arrived, life was extinct. The Doctor [illegible] to examine him very closely but found no marks of external injury, that could have proved fatal. The boy was about 10 years of age and is said to have been very a very industrious business boy; he having taken entire charge of a large herd of cattle, which his father owned during the season.
