OBITUARY.

Mary MOORE was born in Summerset, Ohio, August 25th, 1838. She removed with her parents to Keosauqua, Iowa, in April, 1845, and was married to J. S. SHEPHERD January 9, 1862.

Mrs. SHEPHERD was the mother of four children - Minnie (now Mrs. HARTSHORN), Littie, Alva and George - all living except Alva, who died at Corydon in October, 1882

She united with the M. E. church in early life and has been a consistent member of that church in Mt. Ayr since February 21, 1886. She was also a worthy member of the Evangeline Chapter of the Eastern Star of this place. Her aged parents and two sister still reside at Keosauqua. One brother, Walter V., who lived at Mt. Ayr about three years ago, now residing at Bentonsport, and a brother in Colorado also survive her.

Mrs. SHEPHERD was mild and affectionate in her disposition, a loving wife and mother. It was her lot to pass many long years in affliction. She earnestly hoped to visit her parents in June, but was compelled by her illness to give this up, and on the evening of May 28, 1890, her spirit passed away from earth, all her family being near her excepting Mrs. HARTSHORN.

After funeral services at the residence on May 30th, her remains were accompanied by loving friends to Keosauqua for interment.
