OBITUARY - MRS. HOMER GRUBB.
Letha, the eldest child of Richard and Fannie PRAY, was born near Grand River [Decatur County], Iowa, on February 28, 1986, and departed this life July 27, 1928, at the Missouri Methodist hospital at St. Joseph, Mo., at the age of 32 years, five months and 28 days.
On the night of July 3 she was taken to the hospital at the (sic) St. Joseph, Mo., in hopes something could be done to save her life, and all that medical aid and loving hands could do was done, but God saw fit to call her home and she passed peacefully away at 8:30 o'clock on Friday morning, July 27. She had been in ill health for several years, but her staunch spirit and cheerful disposition kept her up and many days of suffering were spent in the care of her home.
She was united in marriage to Homer A. GRUBB on March 30, 1918, and to this union four children were born - Richard Andrew, age 9; Audrey Lucille, age 5; Eva Louise, age 3; and Phylis June, age one month. Those with her husband are left to mourn her loss. She also leaves her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Richard PRAY; a brother, Bud; and a sister, Mrs. Alpha DORTHY, all of Rapids City, S.D.; also a host of sorrowing relatives and friends. One sister, Rosa, preceded her death.
She was converted when a young girl and united with the Baptist church. When her health permitted she, with her family, attended services at Caledonia.
She was kind and thoughtful to everyone and always placed herself and her cares last. To know Letha was to love her and she will be greatly missed in the community in which she lived.
Funeral services were held at the Mount Ayr Church of Christ Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, and were conducted by Rev. W. Harold SMITH. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery [Mount Ayr].
