OBITUARY - JOHN WESLEY GRAY.
John Wesley GRAY was born March 11, 1839, in Holmes county, Ohio, and died March 29, 1932, at the home of his grandson, John GRAY, in Mount Ayr, Iowa.
He was married to Jane GRAHAM March 22, 1860. To this union were born eight children. The two surviving children are Mrs. Mary POWERS of Des Moines and Dave of Mount Ayr. Six children and the wife preceded him in death.
Whena young man he came from Ohio to Iowa, later he resided for a time in Missouri and Kansas, coming to Ringgold county, Iowa, in 1875, settling in Mount Ayr, where he has since resided.
He united with the Mount Ayr Methodist church in 1887 under the pastorate of P. J. VOLLMER and was a regular attendant at church until the infirmities of old age came upon him. He lived a long life and has gone to claim his reward.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Rhoades Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. E. S. MENOHER, pastor of the M.E. church, and burial was in Rose Hill cemetery [Mount Ayr, Iowa].
