OBITUARY.
Mrs. Jane GRAY was born in county Derry, Ireland, August 24, 1841. Her maiden name was GRAHAM. She was about seven years of age when she came to America with her parents, who lived for some time in the cities of New York and Philadelphia, and later moved to Coshocton county, Ohio. Here she was married to J[ohn]. Wesley GRAY March 22, 1860. They moved to Monroe county, Iowa, thence to Johnson county Missouri, and in 1875 to Mt. Ayr, where they ahve since resided. Her death occurred May 4, 1891, bringing surprise and grief to our community. The peuralgia, from which she had long suffered, suddenly attacked her heart and death came in an hour or two.
Mrs. GRAY was the monther of eight children, four of whom, with their father, are left to mourn the loss of this loving mother and noble wife. Her parents were godly persons, being members of the United Presbyterian church, and in early life she formed religious habits. In 1872 she united with the Methodist Episcopal church. Her piety has been none the less true because of her quiet unobtrusive nature. It seems no small loss to the community, that one so good and kind has been called away. The lonely husband, daughter and sons receive much heartfelt sympathy. The funeral service was held May 6, at the M. E. church, by Rev. Wm. B. THOMPSON, the discourse being from the text, "Let me die the death of the righteous." [Interment was at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa.]
A CARD.
Mr. Editor: - I certainly feel thankful and wish to extend my hearty thanks to all the neighbors and friends who so thoughtfully and tenderly cared for my wife in sickness and death, and in so many invaluable ways showed knidness and gave help in the sudden and severe affliction. They may rest assured that these kindnesses are appreciated and will ever be remembered thankfully. --J. W. GRAY.
