OBITUARY - MRS. F. M. GRAY.
Celia Jane FINDLEY, daughter of David and Nancy FINLEY, was born May 19, 1855, near Millersburg, Ohio, and departed this life at her home in Kellerton, Iowa, February 12, 1929.
She was united in marriage to F. M. GRAY November 29, 1876, near Millersburg, Ohio. After spending four years near that place they came to Ringgold county where they have since resided.
Two children were born to this union - Mrs. Alvin MAXWELL and Mrs. Alvin DAVIS, who passed away May 5, 1927.
She united with the Presbyterian church in early girlhood. After moving to Iowa and finding no church here of her own denomination she united with the Methodist church of which she has been a faithful and consistent member up to the day of her death.
Her life was a continued sacrifice, depriving herself that others might be comfortable. A loyal friend and sympathetic neighbor.
Her place is vacant and she is missed in her home and neighborhood by all who knew her. And well may we say, "A mother in Israel is gone."
She leaves to mourn her loss, husband, daughter and two granchildren, Louise and Royce DAVIS, two brothers, O. J. and Elmer FINDLEY, of Millersburg, Ohio, and one sister, Mrs. Rosa McCULLOUGH, of Humeston, Iowa, besides a host of relatives and friends.
The entire community sustains a loss we shall not soon forget. While we may sympathize and weep with them there is only one who can comfort for He says, "As one whom his mother comforteth so I will comfort you."
Mr. and Mrs. F. M. GRAY celebrated their golden wedding November 29, 1926.
"Darling mother, thou has left us,
And thy loss we deeply feel;
But 'tis God that has bereft us,
He can all our sorrows heal."The funeral service was held from the Methodist church February 14, 1929, at 2:30 p.m., conducted by the Rev. CLARKE and the body was laid to rest in the family lot in the Kellerton [Maple Row] cemetery.
