Suncay, May 25th (circa 1940), was the fiftieth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Harry How, Sr., of Avoca. The day was spent at the home of their son, Stanley J. How, in Omaha, where their children and grandchildren were present for the occasion. A number of additional guests called during day with congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. How, among them Mr. W. M. Jeffers, president of the Union Pacific Railroad, for whom their son Stanley is private secretary.Mr. How was born in Council Bluffs and came to Avoca in 1870 with his parents, and has continued to live here for seventy-one years with the exception of a few years in Kansas and Missouri.
Mr. and Mrs. How were married by Ed Gurnsey, mayor of Avoca at that time. The Journal-Herald joins their large circle of friends in wishing them more happy returns of the day.
