Wayne Berdett Russell, 60, passed away October 20, 2012. The funeral service will be Friday, October 26, at 2 p.m. at Merle Hay Funeral Home, 4400 Merle Hay Road. A visitation will be held Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Wayne was born in Bayard, Iowa to Bill and Evelyn Russell on October 1, 1952, and grew up in Des Moines. He served in the U.S. Army for a brief time. He enjoyed bowling, motorcycles, and going to the Sprint Car Races in Knoxville. He loved to grill outdoors and could fix just about anything.
Wayne is survived by his estranged wife Rebecca Russell; children, Jody (Bryon) Sorter, Mike Judge, Jennifer (Jeremy) Ferdig, and Stephanie (Troy) Jeffries; brother, Tony (Linda) Russell; sister, Mary Snyder; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by parents, Bill and Evelyn Russell; brothers, Charles Case and Mike Russell; sister, Cheryl Eakins; and daughter, Carrie Russell.
Memorials may be made to the family.
