Ercell Knott Penniwell, 96, of The Abbey died of a heart ailment there Wednesday. The body was cremated, and no immediate services are planned. Private burial of the cremains will be at a later date at Leon Cemetery in Leon.
Mrs. Penniwell was born in Warren County and had lived in Des Moines most of her life. She was a retired office manager with Aliber and Co. and also had been a secretary at the Iowa Legislature. She was a member of PEO GH chapter.
A sister, Ethyl Read of Sarasota, Fla., survives.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church. Dunn’s Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
