Mervill R. Moore, 98, of the 1400 block of East 36th Street died of a kidney ailment Tuesday at Fountain West Health Care Center in West Des Moines. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at Oakwood Cemetery.
Mr. Moore was born in Patterson and had lived in Ankeny five years before moving to Des Moines, where he had lived 88 years. He was a retired auto mechanic with Glen Motors and a charter member of Machinist Union 254. He had served in the Iowa National Guard and enjoyed camping and wildlife.
He is survived by a son, Mervill L. “Roy” of Des Moines; three daughters, Doris Parsons of Des Moines, Geraldine Owens of Anderson, Ind., and Judy Lancaster of Norwalk; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy L. Quinnett Moore.
Memorial contributions may be made to Animal Rescue League of Iowa Inc. Hamilton’s Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
