Louise Stevens, 83, of the 2300 block of Lyon Street died of cancer Thursday at Hospice Kavanagh House. Services will be at 11 a.,. Monday at Grandview Park Baptist Church, of which she was a member. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Yates Center Cemetery in Yates Center, Kan.
Mrs. Stevens was born in Yates Center and had lived in Wichita Kan. Before moving to Des Moines in 1993. She was a minister's wife and a librarian ad secretary with the Wichita public school system before retiring. She had been a volunteer with Iowa Lutheran Hospital, Grandview Park Baptist School and her church. She had been a member of First Bible Baptist Church in Wichita for 40 years and enjoyed reading and being a volunteer.
She is survived by a son, Ross, of Pleasant Hill; three grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Chester.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Grandview Park Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Louise Stevens Memorial Fund at her church.
