Morris Secrist, 92, died Saturday November 10, 2012 at the CLC unit of the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at McLaren's Chapel in West Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.
Morris was born and raised in West Des Moines. He served in the Army during WWII from October 1941 to October 1945. Before retirement, Morris was president of Barrick Roofing. He was very successful because of his workmanship and honesty. Morris loved and was loved by his family and was proud to be called pop or grandpa. His lap was their favorite chair. Morris was generous to others and helped many people have better lives. He loved chocolate chip cookies, candy, and ice cream. Morris's last wish would be for everyone reading his obituary to enjoy a treat, and do something nice for someone each day.
Morris is survived by his wife, Sharon; step-daughters, Julie (Jay) Summers of West Des Moines and Tina Brill of Nashville, TN; step-son, Erich Riesenberg of Des Moines; step-granddaughters, Jaimie and Jordan Summers and Nicole Brill; and step-grandson, Isaac Brill. Morris was preceded in death by his first wife, Genevieve.
