Funeral services for D. U. Strong, 86, were held Saturday, November 15, at 2 o'clock a t the Presbyterian church with Rev. A. Ramirez officiating. Burial was in Summit Hill cemetery.

Mr. Strong died November 12 at the home of his son, Fred of Farnhamville, where he had been cared for the last two months. A Pocahontas county resident for about 50 years, he farmed near Ware until 1936 and since then had engaged in trucking until about two years ago. He had been in failing health since May.

Survivors include two sons, Fred of Farnhamville and Dossie of Marathon; two daughters, Mrs. James Donahue of Pocahontas and Mrs. Herbert Dugdale of Oaklawn, 111.; 42 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Nancy Poe of St. Ann, 111., and three brothers, Rev. W. B. Strong of Aphene, Ala., Charles of Beeches, 111., and Marion of Chicago. His wife died in 1936.
