Alfred "Ole" Dirks, 82, Manson, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, at the Humboldt North Care Facility.
Services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at Augustana Lutheran Church, Manson, with the Rev. Peggy A. Rose officiating. Burial was in St. Paul's Cemetery, Manson.
Survivors include his daughter, Jean Milefchik, Rock Island, IL; sons, Alfred, Humboldt, Ben, Harlan; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Telke Dirks and Wubke Dirks, both of Germany.
Alfred "Ole" Dirks was born in Ulrich, Oldendorf, Germany, and received his education there. He came to the United States in 1923 and was employed as a blacksmith and welder. He married Theresa Henrichs in 1934 at Pocahontas and he served in the U.S. Navy during World War JJ. His wife died in 1977. He retired in 1984 and moved to Golden Meadows Retirement Center in Manson. He lived there until July 1989, when he moved to the Humboldt North Care Center
