(Muscatine) Mrs. May Taylor, wife of Alderman Mark Taylor, passed away late yesterday afternoon at her home 1015 Nebraska street, after an illness of fourteen weeks. A complication of diseases caused the death. The demise was not unexpected as Mrs. Taylor has been seriously ill for about eight weeks and even then little hope was entertained for her recovery. May Carpenter was born in Louisa county, December 23, 1883. She spent the early part of her life in Louisa county and moved to this city about five years before her marriage to Mark Taylor, present alderman from the Fourth ward, December 4, 1900. She is survived by her husband and four children, Irene, Eleanor, Omri and Frank. Two brothers, William and George Carpenter and three sister, Mrs. Pearl McCormick of New Boston; Mrs. Claude Hammond of Columbus Junction and Mrs. Elizabeth Abbott, of Sulphur Springs, Ind., with her mother Mrs. E.J. Carpenter, also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Musserville M. E. church. The Rev. H. E. Butler will officiate and interment will be made in Greenwood cemetery.
