Page 1S. M. Grosjean, one of the best known residents of Seventy-six township, Muscatine county, passed away Tuesday evening at 7:30 o'clock at his home in Seventy-six township, following an illness of several years duration. Although his death was caused by perisplenitis, he had been suffering with dropsy for several yeas. Mr. Grosjean had resided in Seventy-six township 61 years and is one of Muscatine county's best know residents. The news of Mr. Grosjean's death will be received with the deepest sorrow by his many friends.
S. M. Grosjean was born in Bellefour, France, November 6, 1849 and came to America at the age of two years with his parents, March 1, 1851, and settled in Seventy-six township where he has resided continuously. On January 1, 1883, he was married to Miss Mary Masonholder and to this union five children were born. He is survived by five children, they are: Irwin, of Osseo, Minn., Leo at home, Mrs. Glen Will of Nichols, Mrs, Stewart McBrinde of Lake Township and Lillian at home. Two brothers and two sisters also mourn his demise. They are, David Grosjean of Muscatine, Peter Grosjean of Cedar township, Mrs. Mary Neyens of Muscatine and Miss Teresa Grosjean, residing in Seventy-six township. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a devout member of St. Malchy church at Ardon. The funeral was held this morning at 10 o'clock from St. Malchy church at Ardon.
