Page 1Mrs. A. W. Whicher, residing at 395 Bartlett street, Muscatine, Iowa, passed to her reward at Hershey hospital Sunday evening at 7:45 o'clock following a short illness. Mrs. Whicher seemed to be in the best of spirits and partook heartily of her supper after which she enjoyed a short nap. A few minutes after she awoke she passed away. Her death was due to heart disease. Miss Mary Fiddler was born July 29, 1848, at Camden, Ill., the town now called Milan, Ill., and had attained the age of sixty-five yeas. She was united in marriage to A. W. Whicher September 13, 1870, in Wisconsin where she resided until 1881 when she removed to South Dakota, accompanied by her husband.
In 1894 she moved to Iowa and settled at Columbus City, where she made her home until about eight years ago, when, accompanied by her husband, she removed to Muscatine. She is survived by her husband and five children as follows: Mrs. E. L. Letcher of Kansas City, Mo.; Allen Whicher of Muscatine; Harry Whicher of Canada, William Whicher of Columbus Junction and Clara Whicher of Muscatine. The funeral services over the remains were held from the home of Bartlett street yesterday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, conducted by Dr. L. M. Grigsby, pastor of the first M. E. church, of Muscatine.
