(Fruitland) Mrs. James McCormick, for a half century and more a resident of Fruitland and the vicinity, succumbed early last Thursday to the infirmities of old age. At the time of her death which occurred at 3:30 o'clock, Mrs. McCormick had attained the age of almost eighty-eight years, having been born in County Derry, Ireland, May 6, 1825. She came to America and almost immediately to Muscatine and Louisa counties in 1852. Before her marriage she was Miss Sarah O'Connor. Mrs. McCormick's husband succumbed about sixteen years ago. She is survived by three sons, another having died in infancy. The sons are William, James and Charles McCormick, all of Fruitland. The deceased woman was a devoted member of St. Matthias church of Muscatine and the funerals services were held from there Saturday morning at eleven o'clock. Burial took place at St. Mary's cemetery.
