Funeral services for Guy J. Wieneke, West Liberty tavern operator, 62, were held at St. Joseph's Catholic church, West Liberty, Jan. 11 with the Rev. John Morrissey officiating. The rosary was held at the Snider Funeral home Jan. 10.

Mr. Wieneke died at University hospitals, Iowa City, Jan. 8.

The son of Guy and Helen Brennan Wieneke, he was born in Johnson county Nov. 9, 1923. He was married to Betty Crossett in Iowa City Feb. 2, 1944. He had owned Wink's Tap in West Liberty for 15 years. Prior to that he was a machinist.

Mr. Wieneke was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church, a veteran of World War II, a staff sergeant in an army infantry division. He was a member of the Mansell Phillipps American Legion Post 509, West Liberty, the Iowa City VFW Post 3949 and the Moose lodge at Muscatine.

He is survived by his wife, 4 sons, James and Kenneth, West Liberty; Guy (Butch), Ely and Daniel, Tyler, Texas; 3 daughters, Mrs. Richard (Nancy) Hormel, Mrs. John (Sandra) Smith and Mrs. Mark (Melody) Henderson, West Liberty; his mother, Helen Janney, West Liberty; a brother, Richard Janney, West Liberty and 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and stepfather.
