FREMONT - Harlan L. Witt, 87, formerly of Fremont, died Sunday, Aug. 27, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield. His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Fremont Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Forrest Durham officiating. Burial: White Oak Cemetery near Wright. Visiting hours begin 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel, with family present 6:30 - 8 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials: Cedar United Methodist Church.
Harlan L. Witt was born June 10, 1913, near Wright, to Jacob Labon and Hattie Mae Webber Witt. He attended Unity Country School in Wright, and Cedar Consolidated School. He attended Cedar United Methodist Church. On Oct. 23, 1933, he married Louise Wright in University Park. He was a retired farmer, and had lived in the Cedar and Fremont area all his life.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: H. Daverne and Marla Witt of Cedar; five daughters and sons-in-laws: Donna and Doug Lappin of Fremont, Linda and Lee Scharff of Stevensville, Mont., Sandra and Robert Reed, Judy and Larry Walker, all of Gilbert, Ariz., and Marcia and Jack Carman of Burlington; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise, in 1992; his parents; five brothers: Albert, Gleen, Orville, Joe and John; a sister, Nellie, in infancy; and three stepsisters: Agatha Curtis, Kizzie Bond and Ella Austin. (The Oskaloosa Herald, date unknown)
