Andreas Wagg passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Will Kemp Monday, October 19, 1914, aged 86 years, 10 months and 19 days, after a short illness with bronchial pneumonia. He was born in Baden, Germany of which his parents, George and Sarah (Camrar) Wagg were natives and residents until called to their final home. Andreas was quite young when his parents died, and the children, who were eight in number were widely scattered. At the age of twenty-five Mr. Wagg resolved to try his fortune in the new world, and in 1852 embarked on a sailing vessel from Havre, which was bound for New York, being upon the water thirty-two days.

After landing in America he discovered that he had but $1 left and going to Buffalo,N. Y., he immediately secured employment upon a farm. He came to this county in 1857 and worked for Mr. Crow, but in ? that year purchased forty acres of prairie land and made a home for himself. He purchased a log cabin and was united in marriage with Christina Wetnets. Mrs. Wagg was a native of Germany and a daughter of George and Christina Wetnets. On May 21, 1861, his wife was called to her final home at the age of thirty years. She was the mother of three children, only one of whom is now living, Mrs. Mary Kemp.

Mr. Wagg was again married in the fall of 1862 to Miss Louise Frantzman, who was born in Germany. She was a daughter of Peter and Maggie Frantzman also natives of Germany. To Mr. and Mrs. Wagg were born seven children three of whom are living. Louise, wife of Daniel Sweeney of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Henry and Fred of Wapello,Iowa. Twenty-one grandchildren and eight great grand children also survive him. Mrs. Wagg died March 31, 1892.

For the past twenty one years he has made his home with his son, Henty, with the exception of the last ten weeks, which he has spent with his daughter, Mrs.Kemp, in order that he might receive better care while improvements were being made at the old home. In 1864 Mr. Wagg united with the German Congregational church. Mr. Wagg was an honest and upright citizen and as a neighbor and friend was genial, warm hearted and reliable, whether in adversity or prosperity. His whole hearted love and devotion to his children and grandchildren will be cherished by them through all the coming years.

A short service was held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Kemp, at 11 a. m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, conducted by Rev. R.V. Pike, of Grandview. The regular funeral services were held at the Harrison church at 2 p. m., Wednesday, Rev. C. W. Sydman, of the Presbyterian church officiating. Interment at the Harrison cemetery.
