HIATT Funeral To Be Saturday

Lester Harold HIATT, 53, native of Fairfield, died Thursday about 4:10 a.m. at the St. Mary hospital in Rochster, Minn., where he had been a patient since Oct. 4. He had been in failing health for the past several years.

Last rites will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Raymond funeral home with the Rev. Lloyd Patton of Burlington in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Lester Harold HIATT was born Jan. 12, 1909, at Fairfield, the son of Harold D. and Lulu CHATTERTON HIATT. He was reared and educated in Fairfield, and married June 11, 1933, to Berniece (sic - Bernice) HEALD who survives. The wedding took place at the home of the bride near Packwood.

HIATT had made his home in Texas the past 12 years. He was a member of the Christian church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mary Lou DUNN, Houston, Texas; one son, John HIATT, Austin, Texas; one grandson, and his mother, Mrs. H. D. HIATT, Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by his father.

HIATTs Depart For Homes In Texas

Mrs. Lester HIATT and daughter, Mrs. Mary Lou DUNN of Edcouch and Houston, Tex., respectively, left today for their homes after attending last rites for Mr. HIATT, Saturday afternoon here. Her son, John HIATT returned to his studies at Austin, Tex., Saturday night.

Out-of-town residents who came for the services included Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Pearson and Mr. and Mrs. William Pearson of Mitchellville; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hinton of Chariton; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Parks of Maquoketa; and others from Burlington and Packwood.

The Parkses were house guests in the home of Mrs. HIATT's sister, Mrs. Glenn LISK.
