I am researching the same family for my cousin. So far I have been unable to locate their death certificates. I live in the Des Moines area and have visited the State Historical Library of Iowa. They have an index of several death registrations on line to view. William and Ellen were not listed at the time I checked, but they are continually adding more to their list.
If and when they are added. you may obtain a copy of their death registration for less than a dollar if you order it when you are in the actual library. Of course you can order them on line, but the charge will of course be more.
If you know the county they died in, you may also contact the County Recorder's office and order there. I do not believe the county deaths were sent to the State for deaths before 1920 in Iowa.
For some reason, I have thier death in Polk county, Iowa, BUT that may be the reason I have been unable to locate the record. There is an Ellen Ryan, who died Feb. 21, 1914 on the microfilm there. They had not added it to the index on line. Here is the site to go to: http://www.iowahistory.org/archives/holdings/state-archives/birth-death-marriage.htmlI would very much like to have you contact me at micklvk@aol.com about this family. Thank you.
