Following a lingering illness, Mrs. Elsie Lott, 57, passed away early this morning at St. Luke's Hospital in Davenport where she had been a patient for several weeks. Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon at two o'clock at St. Mark's Episcopal church with Rev. Thomas E. Horton officiating. Interment will be made in Mt. Hope cemetery. The body will repose at the Buchner chapel until time for the services.
Elsie Tracy Lott was born at Iron Hill, Iowa, on Oct. 15, 1881, the daughter of Hugh M. and Samantha Bowling Tracy. Her early life was spent in Iron Hill and in 1886 the family moved to Maquoketa. She graduated from the local high school in 1900. She was united in marriage to Thomas E. Lott who preceded her in death in 1917. Two daughters were born to this union, Maxine, who died in 1922 and Devene, (Mrs. H. R. Stansbury) who resides in Baltimore, Md. Mrs. Lott was a member of the Pythian Sisters and Pope Rebekah lodges. Besides the daughter and her husband in Maryland, she is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Richard Benton of Elwood, and Mrs. Harold Hayes of Maquoketa, and their families and a host of friends. Preceding her in death besides her husband were her mother in 1926, her father in 1934 and two brothers Alva and Clifford Tracy, who passed away in childhood.
